DANIEL FONSECA: MUSLERA WILL LEAVE

After months of speculation, ex-Roma forward and current player agent Daniel Fonseca has finally confirmed that all is not well between his client Fernando Muslera and Lazio president Claudio Lotito. Muslera is on a 200,000 euro a year salary in a deal that lasts until 2012. It was suggested that Fernando had extended until 2015 in a deal that was potentially worth 1.6 million euro per year but seemingly that is not the case and Fonseca has subsequently been left fuming as reported by ANSA:

"I've kept silent for so long in the best interests of Muslera and Lazio. Someone did not keep their promises and that was not me. My lawyer and I talked with Lotito yesterday. What will hapen now? It is simple, anything can happen but what will not happen is a renewal with Lazio. I can now say Fernando will not be Lazio's keeper."

Fonseca claims that there are 'at least 20 clubs' who are interested in signing the Uruguayan. LaLazioSiamoNoi name Arsenal and Manchester United as the frontrunners while Tottenham have clarified that they are not interested.

This leaves Lazio with an interesting dilemma. Tommaso Berni, the distinguished number two has been heavily linked with a move to Napoli as an understudy to Morgan De Sanctis but a sniff of an opportunity to become a number one may just keep Berni in Rome. Bizzarri and Lotito have had several problems in the Argentine's two year spell at Lazio but he has shown in the past that he can handle the demands of Serie A. There is also a possibility that Juan Pablo Carrizo may be brought back from River Plate but Lotito should be keen to get rid given the poor nature of their relationship.

The favourite to make a transfer should be Federico Marchetti. He has the same agent as Mauro Zarate, so negotiations should be easy with theplayer. Unfortunately, Cagliari president Cellino has a well-documented hatred of Lotito. Another option is Tommaso Sorrentino, a Lazio youth product who is currently at Chievo.
