EUROPA LEAGUE 2011/2012: LAZIO 6 VS RABOTNICKI SKOPJE 0, LAZIO STARTED THE NEW SEASON CAMPAIGN WITH AN EXPLOSIVED VICTORY

This is the first match of Lazio with official competition atmosphere. This is the first leg of Europa League qualification. Lazio faced the Macedonian club, Rabotnicki. In their home Olimpico Stadium,   Lazio got an explosive pace in this match. Six goals in a leg proved their explosive spirit in facing the new season, even in this match Mauro Zarate has left out the squad, not even in the bench composition.

Here are the formation both of the teams: Lazio:  Marchetti, Scaloni, Biava, Dias, Radu, Brocchi (62' Matuzalem), Ledesma, Mauri (71' Lulic), Hernanes, Cissè (85' Rocchi), Klose. While Rabotnicki Skopje: Dimitrievski, Todorovski, Velkoski, Micevski, Petrovic, Muarem, Najdoski, Lazarevski.

20 minutes into the game, Hernanes was served by an outstanding Mauri, and for Rabotnicki goalkeeper Dimitrivieski there was little else to do than to pick the ball out of the own net.  Before half time Stefano Mauri had doubled the scoring after took the briliant assist from Miroslav Klose. In first half, only two goals netted by Biancoceleste squad. It caused by the lack of creativity in attacking scheme in first half of the match.

In second half, Lazio finally added four goals through Djibril Cisse with two goals, the subtitution captain Tomasso Rocchi, and finally the German striker Miroslav Klose. In this match, Klose was really dominant in Lazio attack. His role in forward line of Lazio was not only as the finisher, but also as the assist creator. For several times he unselfishly served his friends and finally he created three asissts in this match.

His first assist occured in first half through Stefano Mauri's goal. His second assist occured in minutes 51 when he gave the ball to Cisse on left area, then finally Cisse took the ball in. And the last one when he accelerate to the penalty box through right side, then he gave the ball to Tomasso Rocchi who stood up freely on the center of the penalty box. Rocchi shot in the ball in minute 87.

It also Klose who closed the goal sequences of Lazio in this match. Right before the match had its ending, He accepted an through pass assist from Tomasso Rocchi, and with short sprint he took the ball with one touch finishing. And that is the the overall of this match. Lazio won with convinced score. 6-0 for the home team.

AJAX'S INTEREST IN JUAN PABLO CARRIZO

Rumors have started that negotiations are in place between Lazio and Ajax for the Argentine goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo, returned to biancocelesti after the loan to River Plate. The Lancers need to find a replacement for Maarten Stekelenburg, who landed on the opposite bank of Tiber to Roma. Juan Pablo Carrizo, 27 years old, back from a dissapointing relegation with River Plate in Argentina, has one more year of contract with Lazio. He could be sold for 1,5 million €, as reported by lazioland.com.

EDY REJA WANTS DIEGO LUGANO

The Fenerbahce defender, Diego Lugano is temptated by Lazio. Lazio, through his coach Edoardo Reja states their interest on the Uruguayan captain. Also, Diego Lugano could terminate his contract with the Turkish club, and in that case he could be brought at parametre zero, which is a big temptation for Tare and Lotito. But, before all that, the player should lower his salary demands however. In Turkey he had a salary of 3 million €, and he should give a strong signal if he wants to switch. He had already said yes to Lazio.

MARK BRESCIANO MOVED TO AL-NASR

Al-Nasr officialy confirmed the signing of Mark Bresciano from Lazio, where he will reunite with coach Walter Zenga who already coached him at Palermo. Bresciano signed a two-year deal and will earn 2 million euros per season. The Australian midfielder spent 12 years in Italy, playing for Empoli, Parma, Palermo and Lazio. His spell in Biancocelesti lasted only one season and was involved in some inconsistent performances.

Giuseppe "Beppe" Signori was born on 17 February 1968 in Alzano Lombardo, Province of Bergamo.  As a youngster Signori played in the youth system of Internazionale, but was eventually released after being told by the club that he was too small (171 cm) to succeed as a professional. He went on to make his pro debut for Leffe (1984–86), followed by Piacenza (1986–87 and 1988–89), Trento (1987–88), Foggia (1989–92), Lazio (1992–97), Sampdoria (January–June 1998) and Bologna (1998–2004). He then spent two short periods abroad: first in Greece in 2004 with Iraklis Thessaloniki; and then in October 2005 he signed a one-year contract with Hungarian team MFC Sopron.

He was a fast and dangerous left footed striker. During the early part of his career he was used as a left winger, where his accurate crossing and pace were put to good use. Not only that, He also had brilliant ability as free kick taker. He was also known for his unique style of taking penalty kicks. He would stand next to the ball, without taking any run-up and shoot.
In early 90 decade, The arrival of Sergio Cragnotti as the new president of the club gave new impetus to Lazio as shown in the summer 1992 transfer market, during which the club purchased established player like Giuseppe Signori, with the intention to replace the fan favorite Biancocelesti that has just sold, Ruben Sosa.

During his carrier with Lazio from 1992-1997 he crowned as Serie A Top Scorer for 3 times. First, with 26 goals in season 1992-93. The record only can be leveled by Argentinean striker Hernan Crespo ten years later. Second, with 23 goals in season 1993-94. Third, with 24 goals in season 1995-96 shared with another Italian striker Igor Protti.
In June 1995 Sergio Cragnotti reached a verbal agreement with Parma president Calisto Tanzi to transfer Signori to the "gialloblu" for a record transfer fee, 22 billion lire in that time. However, following vigorous but peaceful protests by 5,000 Lazio fans that adored the striker, the deal was abandoned. It was the first time in football history that the popular passion by the fans forced a president to hold a football player.
Unfortunately, his success in national level is not same as in club level, partly due to differences between him and Italian national coach Arrigo Sacchi, who preferred to play him in the midfield area. He played for the national team with 28 caps and scored seven goals. The only major tournament Signori played in was the 1994 FIFA World Cup in USA, where he set up two crucial goals that allowed Italy to advance.

The story goes that during World Cup '94 event, his wife Viviana found out that she was pregnant. She told his husband just before the Italy-Norway match. He had the game of his life that day. The Washington Post called his performance in that game the most inspired by anyone in the first round and his coach at Lazio, Zdenek Zeman, said it was the best game Signori had ever played. It is very difficult to disagree.
Now, when he got retired from football carrier as a player, he still got involved in football activities. After working as a Serie A football pundit for RAI Radio1, he served as director of football of Ternana Calcio from 2008 to 2009. He is currently undertaking coaching classes in the renowned Coverciano school in Florence, with the aim to become a football manager himself.
