ASHAMED BY RADAMEL FALCAO...

EUROPA LEAGUE 2011/2012 1/16 FINAL ROUND
FIRST LEG
LAZIO 1 VS ATLETICO MADRID 3

A bitter thing occurred in Olimpico last night. In an Europa League match, Lazio had knocked down by Atletico Madrid with surprising score, 1-3!! Two victory goals of Atletico were scored by their Colombian striker, Radamel Falcao. One goal scored in the first half and the another one was scored in the second half.

Eventhough, Lazio could lead first in minute 19′ through Miroslav Klose's goal, but Lazio couldn't maintain the leading. Only 6 minutes later, Atletico equalized through Adrian. Then, two goals from Falcao in minute 37 and 63 ended the score with home team lost!

It would be very tough for Lazio to face Atletico in their home two weeks again. Could Lazio rise from behind to through advance to the next round?

SIMONE INZAGHI AND DIEGO SIMEONE

Former Lazio striker, Simone Inzaghi spoke about tonight’s game against Atletico Madrid: “The match against Atletico Madrid will be tough. They have good players and so the two Manchester teams, but I think the boys can do well. Injuries have hit the team, but the players stay together and that is good. Despite the injury crisis the Biancoceleste sit third in the Seria A rankings and that means the group is solid. The coach is also very important. When, at some times, a player played “worse” he got every time positive feedback. I want to reserve big applause to Reja and my former team mates," he said to  lalaziosiamonoi.it. "Simeone? He was great, a great team mate, but above all a great man and friend. Now he is also proving his qualities as a coach. Playing with him was an honor. We have shared a lot of satisfaction, especially winning the Scudetto. I have great memories of him. Again, besides being a great player he is above all a wonderful person.”

Well, seems Inzaghi had a nostalgia with Simeone. They are two player who brought the second scudetto title for Lazio in year 2000. Together, they were also scoring each one goal in the last game against Reggina in Olimpico. After that match ended, they drowned in joyful hysteria because they succeed to brought out the second title of scudetto to Olimpico

DIEGO SIMEONE RETURN TO ROME

Coach of Atletico Madrid, Diego Pablo Simeone is expecting a warm reception when he leads his side out against Lazio in Thursday’s matchday of Europa League knock-out tie in Rome. The former Lazio player has fond memories of his time with the Biancoceleste, highlighting the moment when the fans cheered for him upon his return from a lengthy injury lay-off.
“There is a strong bond between the fans and me. I had four years at Lazio and one season (2001/02) I struggled with injury. I will never forget the moment I came back from my knee injury and how they welcomed me. It was just amazing,” Simeone was quoted as saying on UEFA.com. “It was a very emotional moment, comparable to becoming champions, and I am eternally grateful.”

However, the former Catania coach is also concentrating to gain a positive result in tonight match against Lazio. Yes, He had some good memories in Olimpico, but now He will come as an opponent's side.

“It will be a very hard tie because they are having a good season in both league and cup – knowing Lazio, going a long way in the Europa League will also be a target,” Simeone said. “Today they are a good team, their coach, Edy Reja has been there a while now and he is doing a good job. He knows the city and club. I hope we can repeat our success of 2010 and win but we know it’s becoming more and more difficult in the Europa League, because you have very strong teams involved.”

ADVANCE THROUGH THE NEXT ROUND!!

EUROPA LEAGUE 2011/2012 MATCHDAY 6
LAZIO 2 VS SPORTING LISBON 0

Lazio: Albano Benjamin Bizzarri, Giuseppe Biava, Mobido Diakite, Luis Pedro Cavanda, Cristian Ledesma, Lorik Cana (Alvaro Gonzals 53'), Senad Lulic,, Hernanes, Djibril Cissé, Giuseppe Sculli, Libor Kozak (Miroslav Klose 85')

Sporting Lisbon: Boeck Marcelo, Oguchi Onyewu (Joao Mario 76'), Santos Fabiano Evaldo, Tiago Ilori, Stijn Schaars (Filipe Daniel Carrico 69'), Marques Alexandre Bruno Pereirinha, Filipe Andre Santos, Renato Andre Martins, Valeri Bojinov, Diego Rubio (Emiliano Insua 65'), Andre Carrillo.

Lazio finally advance through the next round of Europa League this season. In the last matchday, Lazio had a really good luck! They had a victory over Sporting and also had a good result in another match of the group D. Yes, their rival in this group Vaslui had defeated by the switzerland FC Zurich.

Before the match, Lazio had the toughest of paths if the team wanted to advance from the group stage of Europa League and avoid another humiliating early exit. Not only was a win needed against the strongest side of the group, but also an already eliminated FC Zurich had to get a result against Romanians Vaslui, the team that would kick Lazio out of the tournament with a win in Switzerland.

In this match, coach Edy Reja played some secondary players, even primavera players. He took the strategy because he had to keep the starting players fresh until the match against Udinese in Serie A. But, it could not avoid Lazio to gain a victory over the Portuguese team. Lazio got the scores from Libor Kozak in the first half and Giuseppe Sculli in the second half.

After the draw for the next round match of Europa League, Lazio announced that they will face the Spanish giant Atletico Madrid. Atletico had already met another Italian club Udinese in the group stage before. The first leg will be played at Olimpico in Rome on 16 February 2012, then one week later, Edy Reja's men will travel to Madrid for the second leg on 23 February.

Last time Lazio played Atletico Madrid was in the UEFA Cup in 1997-98. Lazio beat Atletico Madrid in the semi finals 1-0 over two legs with a goal from Vladimir Jugovic. Lazio and Atletico Madrid have also had some great players in common. Players like Cristian Vieri, Diego Simeone, Vladimir Jugovic & Matías Lequi have played for both clubs.

If Lazio should beat Atletico Madrid over two matches they will play the winner from Besiktas and Sporting Braga.

DEAD OR ALIVE...!!!

EUROPA LEAGUE 2011/2012
LAZIO VS SPORTING LISBON

Lazio will face the decisive matchday in Europa League tonight. In Olimpico, Lazio will face the Portuguese Sporting Lisbon in the last matchday of group D. But, the problem for Lazio is three points are not enough to advance through the next round. Lazio still needs the supported result in the other game between Zurich and Vaslui.

In the classification of group D, Lazio now collect the same point with the Romanian Vaslui. But, Vaslui lead on the second place because they have head to head leading with Lazio. So, eventhough Lazio success to gain a victory over Sporting, it would be useless if Vaslui also gain a victory over Zurich. In this last matchday, Lazio need to win and hope that Vaslui will fail to gain a victory over Zurich.

The other problem is about the selection of players for this match. Should Edy Reja play the full strength or should he rest players that have been playing frequently lately? With Udinese waiting on Sunday night, in a game crucial for the rest of the domestic campaign, we can argue that this is a dilemma which Edy Reja should face...

CISSE APOLOGIZE TO LAZIALE

After the match against Vaslui in Europa League, Lazio forward Djibril Cisse expressed his frustration through Twitter. He called all the people who criticize him with bad words like idiots, haters and ****ers.

Actually, Cisse’s career at Lazio started very well. He scored a goal against Milan in the opener match of Serie A and the qualification of Europa League against Rabotnicki, made couple of assists, but over all people are expecting more from him. He is also not scored although it's just one goal recently. All this is getting to him and it led to the Twitter tweet.

But, now the French Lion uses the same media (Twitter) to clear all the things out: “I never insulted the fans of Lazio and I will never do it. They have supported me and still are. And to the real fans I want to say I will never do to you anything bad, I respect you and will fight for you until the end! Forza Lazio for ever!”

DRAW IN ROMANIA...

EUROPA LEAGUE 2011/2012 MATCHDAY 5
VASLUI 0 VS LAZIO 0

Once again, a dissapointed result gained by Lazio in Europa League Championship this season. In the last matchday against Vaslui in Romania, Lazio only gained one point from a draw result.

From this match, I conclude that the forward line of Lazio had a problem!! Lazio actually dominated this match eventhough they played in opponent's home. But, no goal gained by the Edy Reja's squad.

With this result, both of Lazio and Vaslui collect the same point in the classification of group D. Vaslui have to win against FC Zurich in the next matchday if they want to get through accompany the group leader, Sporting Lisbon. While Lazio need to strugglle hardly because they have to face Sporting in the last matchday of this group.

Edy Reja no need to be worry about the defense line because Federico Marchetti is going on to show his world class goalkeeping to keep the Lazio's goal clear. Reja needs to give attention more to the forward line because if they want to win, the forward line must to play like a hungry predator in that match.

FINALLY... THE FIRST VICTORY IN EUROPA LEAGUE THIS SEASON!!

Lazio: Federico Marchetti, Luciano Zauri (Abdoulay Konko 78), Stefan Andrei Radu, Andre Dias, Mobido Diakite, Cristian Ledesma, Lorik Cana, Senad Lulic (Christian Brocchi 46), Giuseppe Sculli, Miroslav Klose (Djibril Cisse 46), Tommaso Rocchi.

FC Zurich: Johnny Leoni, Mathieu Beda, Koch Philippe, Ricardo Rodriguez, Jorge Teixeira, Silvan Aegerter, Dusan Djuric (Marco Schonbachler 76), Yassine Chikhaoui (Ludovic Magnin 61), Chaker Zouaghi, Alexandre Alphonse, Admir Mehmedi (Amine Chermiti 66).

Lazio gained their first victory in Europa League this season last night. With the pressure to keep the hopes up for advancing to the knock out stages of the Europa League, Lazio faced the Switzerland representatives in the matchday 4. FC Zurich came to Olimpico with a condition as same as Lazio. They only collect 2 points until matchday 3, with only draw twice and lost once.

In the first half, FC Zurich looked have more impressive play and Lazio again looked lacking energy and quality to get their first victory. Edy Reja finally gave Luciano Zauri to get his starting line up chance again, but He, again wasted it out. The first half showed the domination of Zurich. They tested Federico Marchetti in goal for several times. But, Marchetti showed his excellent performance. He successed to keep his goal with a clean sheet last night.

Then, as the second half had been started, Lazio slowly grew into the game and FC Zurich never got back to the same dominance again in this match. Lazio started the second half with two player exchanges. Djibril Cisse was in to replace Klose and Christian Brocchi replaced the bosnian Lulic. I think these were excellent subtitutions who finally changed the match. In minute 62, Christian Brocchi got a cross flicked back to him by Cisse just outside the FC Zurich penalty area, and the midfielder struck the ball. On its way to goal the ball was deflected and Zurich's goalkeeper JohnnyLeoni stood no chance of saving the shot. 1-0 for Lazio!

 Brocchi scored a goal

  Brocchi's goal celebration

These three points are important to save the chance to advance through the next stage of the tournament. With this result, Lazio on the second position of Group D with only goal gap leading with Vaslui. On the other match in this group, Sporting Lisbon surprisingly took down by Vaslui. Then, started from now Vaslui will be the serious rival for Lazio to accomplish Sporting as the representative of group D to advance through the next stage of this tournament.

ONLY ONE POINT FROM ZURICH...

FC Zurich: Guatelli, Philippe Koch, Béda, Teixeira, Magnin, Nikci, Margairaz, Aegerter, Djuric (75’ Rodriguez), Chikhaoui (63’ Mehmedi), Alphonse.
Lazio: Marchetti, Lulic, Diakite, Dias, Radu, Cana (46’ Rocchi), Matuzalem, Gonzalez (72’ Ledesma), Hernanes, Sculli, Cisse (79’ Kozak).

Lazio, once more failed to attempt to gain the fisrt victory in Europa League this season. When they went to Zurich, Switzerland to face the home team, Lazio only played draw 1-1 and only gain one point.

Lazio had the lead first after Cisse's cross successfully maximized by Giuseppe Sculli. But, only 20 seconds after the first goal Zurich had scored the equalizing goal to leveled the score through a beautiful finish by Nikci who found the far right corner of Marchetti with a powerful shot.

Summary, Lazio not performed a good playing in this match, unlike they played in the second half of the last derby against Roma Merda. The result is a disappointing one for Lazio, but with Sporting Lisbon beating Vaslui, Lazio are tied with two teams on two points and has a fairly good chance and advancing with some important clashes a head.

UNLUCKY....!!

Lazio Starting Line-Up

Sporting Lisbon: Rui Patricio, Insua, Onyewu, Anderson Polga, Joao Pereira, Fernandez (70' Andrè Santos), Rinaudo, Schaars, Capel (74' Carrico), Van Wolfswinkel, Carrillo (53' Evaldo).
Lazio: Marchetti, Konko, Dias (69' Radu), Diakitè, Lulic, Gonzalez, Cana, Brocchi (63' Sculli), Hernanes, Klose (46' Cisse), Rocchi.

This was the second match of Lazio in Europa League! After a dissapointing match in their home in first match against Vaslui, Lazio had to fly to Lisabon to faced the Portuguese representative in this event, Sporting Lisbon. Lazio went to Lisabon with unconvinced result in the five last matches before, with only one victory, three draws and one lost.

Miroslav Klose

In this match, Lazio (once again...) failed to perform their mighty over the home team. Sporting scored two goals into Marchetti's net through van Wolfswinkel and Insua. Lazio only had one goal that had been scored by Miroslav Klose before the first half came to end. Coach Edy Reja had been sent out by the referee after a protest about Insua's goal which was occuring after the added time should be over.

I watched this match with  full of curious feeling in the second half. How not? In the second half, Sporting only played with 10 men after and Lazio quite dominated the match, but Lazio gain no added goal until the referee blew up his whistle. Several chances in the second half through Djibril Cisse, Giuseppe Sculli, Abdoulay Konko and the captain Tomasso Rocchi failed to be converted into an added goal for Lazio. According to me, Lazio deserve a better result in this match. It was just unlucky guys...!!

AGAIN... THE WEAK POINT IS DEFENSE!!

Lazio: Marchetti, Zauri, Diakite, Dias, Lulic, Matuzalem, Ledesma, Gonzalez ('81 Konko), Sculli ('80 hernanes) , Cisse, Rocchi ('67 Kozak).

Vaslui: Cerniauskas, Milanov, Farkas, Balaur, Milisvljevic, Pavlocic, Wesley, Zmeu ('87 Costin), Adailton, Sanmartean, Temwanjera ('77 Yero Bello).

Finally, this is  the first match of Europa League 2011/2012!! Lazio as the home team will face the Romanian team. Vaslui. Coach Edy Reja rotated some players to get their fitnesses in next matches after this match.

Lazio was really dominant in this match. In first half, Lazio was lead after Lazio got a penalty kick after Il Caoitano Tomasso Rocchi brought down inside the box area by the Vaslui defender. Djibril Cisse executed that chance into a goal.

But, everything were changing into Vaslui side. Vaslui had equalized through their captain, Wesley. Even, they had lead from the home team after they had got a penalty change too. Wesley finally scored his second goal that night. Again, Luciano Zauri is the man to blame for the lost points. Was not able to mark his man of the first goal before getting a straight red card and making a penalty that turned in to Vaslui's second. Surely Reja has to do some thinking now!

But, fortune was still on Lazio side. Giuseppe Sculli scored the equalized goal after got a brilliant assist from Djibril Cisse on right side. Finally, Lazio was saved from a lost in their first match in this competition.

EUROPA LEAGUE 2011/2012 : RABOTNICKI 1 VS LAZIO 3 A VICTORY FOR THE SECOND TEAM

Il Capitano Tomasso Rocchi

The second leg of final qualification for the European League has been held in the Macedonian home. Matches that are over before they start are usually not entertaining stories, and Lazio took this chance to made this match as a training session for the reserve team. Coach Edy Reja fielded plenty of reserves that earned some experiences from this match.

 Senad Lulic

These are the formations both of the teams:
Lazio: Bizzarri, Scaloni, Diakite, Dias (36’ Biava), Zauri, Lulic, Matuzalem, Cana, Mauri (57’ Hernanes), Kozak (70’ Ledesma), Rocchi.
Rabotnicki: Dimitrievski, Todorovski, Kumbev, Bogdanovic, Lazarevski, Muarem, Velkoski, Vujcic, Micevski, Petkovski, Manevski
Lazio took the lead in minute 22 through briliant cooperation from Matuzalem, Mauri and Rocchi. Matuzalem gave the ball to Mauri on the left side of penalty box, then as if He want to shot directly to the net, He pass the ball to Rocchi who stood up freely on the center of the penalty box. With no mercy, Il Capitano took in the ball.

Rocchi's Goal Celebration
After being equalised by the home team, Lazio added two goals in second half through Hernanes who subtituted Mauri, and once again from Rocchi. 1-3 with the lead of Biancoceleste. With this result, Lazio gain the convincing aggregate 9-1 from the Macedonian side. From another match, Roma Merda had crashed out from this competition after kicked out by the Slovakian team, Slovan Bratislava. It means that the representative of the Italian capital is only one. It's our team! Forza Lazio!!

EUROPA LEAGUE 2011/2012: LAZIO 6 VS RABOTNICKI SKOPJE 0, LAZIO STARTED THE NEW SEASON CAMPAIGN WITH AN EXPLOSIVED VICTORY

This is the first match of Lazio with official competition atmosphere. This is the first leg of Europa League qualification. Lazio faced the Macedonian club, Rabotnicki. In their home Olimpico Stadium,   Lazio got an explosive pace in this match. Six goals in a leg proved their explosive spirit in facing the new season, even in this match Mauro Zarate has left out the squad, not even in the bench composition.

Here are the formation both of the teams: Lazio:  Marchetti, Scaloni, Biava, Dias, Radu, Brocchi (62' Matuzalem), Ledesma, Mauri (71' Lulic), Hernanes, Cissè (85' Rocchi), Klose. While Rabotnicki Skopje: Dimitrievski, Todorovski, Velkoski, Micevski, Petrovic, Muarem, Najdoski, Lazarevski.

20 minutes into the game, Hernanes was served by an outstanding Mauri, and for Rabotnicki goalkeeper Dimitrivieski there was little else to do than to pick the ball out of the own net.  Before half time Stefano Mauri had doubled the scoring after took the briliant assist from Miroslav Klose. In first half, only two goals netted by Biancoceleste squad. It caused by the lack of creativity in attacking scheme in first half of the match.

In second half, Lazio finally added four goals through Djibril Cisse with two goals, the subtitution captain Tomasso Rocchi, and finally the German striker Miroslav Klose. In this match, Klose was really dominant in Lazio attack. His role in forward line of Lazio was not only as the finisher, but also as the assist creator. For several times he unselfishly served his friends and finally he created three asissts in this match.

His first assist occured in first half through Stefano Mauri's goal. His second assist occured in minutes 51 when he gave the ball to Cisse on left area, then finally Cisse took the ball in. And the last one when he accelerate to the penalty box through right side, then he gave the ball to Tomasso Rocchi who stood up freely on the center of the penalty box. Rocchi shot in the ball in minute 87.

It also Klose who closed the goal sequences of Lazio in this match. Right before the match had its ending, He accepted an through pass assist from Tomasso Rocchi, and with short sprint he took the ball with one touch finishing. And that is the the overall of this match. Lazio won with convinced score. 6-0 for the home team.
