EDY REJA (FINALLY) RESIGNED FROM LAZIO

Finally, the time had come. Football season in Italy was over. Lazio and our coach, Edy Reja parted ways. Edy Reja announced he was leaving the club president Claudio Lotito even still want to stay. Reja desire to leave Lazio was already long. 66-year-old coach had twice offered to resign, but rejected the club management.

However, now Reja's decision was unanimous. He insisted to leave this summer. "My Adventures with Lazio's over," said Reja to ittaceleste.it. "President Lotito has given support to me and asked me to survive. Although my resignation was rejected, and he asked me to think again for a week, I stick with my decision."

After he stated his resignation, Reja was linked with Fiorentina. But again Reja asserts that all the news about him and Fiorentina is simply not true. "For now I probably would not consider any bids. I want to rest to coach about a year," said Reja.

While the president club, Claudio Lotito published an official statement signed by him and it waved good bye to Edy Reja. The statement read (translated from Italian by lazioland.com):

"Dear Coach, although respecting your decision to cease your collaboration with Lazio, I cannot help but represent the sincere disappointment with which I personally, the club and the players took the news,” wrote Lotito.

Your management has taken this team to important results over the last two years and you had the merit of creating a solid and coherent ‘group,’ thanks to the character you gave them.

You also had the necessary strength to overcome at times harsh criticism, inspiring security and calm in the Lazio camp, which were necessary to achieve these results.

Lazio are grateful for all you have done and the teachings I will treasure. I want you to know that the doors of Formello will always be open for you, in the certainty this group will remain in your heart as a symbol of one of the greatest moments of your career."

CLAUDIO LOTITO AND LAZIO NEW PLAYERS PRESS CONFRENCE

Several days ago Lazio president Claudio Lotito gathered his new players, after the Union Ripa friendly match. Lotito told the attended press that he wanted a Lazio to battle on all championship, both in Italy and in Europe. And for that he went for more experienced international players on the market, with that extra quality to lift Lazio to a higher football level.

There was a part of the conference that the new players spoke about their new adventure at Lazio.

German striker, Miroslav Klose spoke that he was up to a new challenge. Even being one of the greatest strikers in German history, Klose was happy to leave Bayern Munchen and join to Lazio, a team with a great tradition, in one of biggest Leagues. He even spoke with Luca Toni (also former player of Bayern Munchen) about the difficulties of the Serie A, and how to outplay that.
Then, The Albanian Lorik Cana quoted Lazio as a big club in a big League, with ambition to do well in all 3 competities (Serie A, Coppa Italia and Europa League). Cana told the press that he preferes to play central in midfield, but he didn't mind playing elsewhere on the pitch.

Then, how about Djibril Cisse ? "Scudetto? Why not ?", only with those 3 words Djibril Cissé enough to  gathered all the attention at the press conference. Cissé said that Lazio has the individual players, and the collective play, to battle with all teams in Italy and Europe. And he even told that he was impressed by the reception at the airport, by the Lazio fans, on his arrival.

Lotito then ended the press conference, by telling that his Lazio will be marking a new decade for greater heights.

MORE ARRIVALS LIKE KLOSE

Lazio president Claudio Lotito claims that Miroslav Klose is just the beginning and that he has "ongoing discussions with players of Klose's callibre."

Speaking to Sky TG24 Lotito said, "Other players will arrive which are the same level as Klose". Lotito spoke about how he was certain to score more signings to reinforce Lazio: "We made a program of aquisitions to make the team more competitive. Klose was the first, but we have ongoing discussions with other players of equal value".

MARCHETTI IS ON THE VERGE TO LAZIO

Cagliari president Massimo Cellino has confirmed that the Marchetti transfer saga is about to come to an end. Marchetti has been a primary target for Lotito ever since Daniel Fonseca, the agent of Uruguayan wantaway Fernando Muslera announced publicly that his client no longer wanted to be a part of the setup in Rome.

A number of factors have sped up the process. Firstly Edy Reja agreed in prinicple that no matter what happens in the upcoming mercato, Fernando Muslera will not play for Lazio. Secondly, Reja gave his blessing to the transfer of Marchetti promising to Lotito that he will become the undisputed number one goalkeeper. Consequently, Lotito met Marchetti's agent last week in Milan and put a deal in place. It now seems that the release clause has been activated and Cellino will be forced to relinquish his hold of Federico.

The Cagliari president told LaLazioSiamoNoi: "I spoke with Federico's attorney yesterday. The case will be resolved in several days remaining." Cellino seemingly took a parting shot against Lotito whom the Cagliari president has a fond disliking of: "Lazio deserve this [the transfer of Marchetti]. Lotito does not."

Marchetti is a mouthwatering prospect. Along with Albano Bizzarri and Fernando Muslera, Marchetti was one of the top goalkeepers in the 2009-10 season, earning a place in Italy's World Cup squad. When first choice Gianluigi Buffon was forced out of the team with injury, Marchetti deputised but was found wanting as a poor Azzurri squad were easily dumped out of the tournament. After declaring his desire to leave Cagliari in a remarkably similar vain to how Muslera has told the world of his dissatisfation, Marchetti found himself to be a fixture on the Cagliari bench. It now appears as though he will get the chance to shine again in Rome.

LAZIO STILL OWE CONI TWO MILLIONS

This article is a repost from article that published on lazioland.com.

Several days ago, Claudio Lotito made it quite clear that Lazio are unwilling to pay the necessary amount to play at the Stadio Olimpico next season. Describing the sum of money as disproportionate, Lotito said that while the club clearly wants a resolution, it is unlikely to be found with the current agreement.

Gianni Petrucci, president of CONI has reacted. He claims Lazio still owe two million euro in rent just to play league games at the Olimpico next season. He has also pointed out that there is a deadline for payment (30th June) and that Lotito is contractually obliged to pay.

While an agreement looks some way off, it would be a shock if the problem is not resolved prior to the fixed deadline.

CLAUDIO LOTITO:" I WILL BUILD A BETTER TEAM..."

According to lazioland.com, La Repubblica have said that Claudio Lotito is focused on the market and building towards a brighter future for Lazio. "I will create a stronger team. It will be a great Lazio, comparable to other great sides both domestically and internationally. The fans can be proud of this team."

Negotiations for Lichtsteiner are believed to be taking place at present. The price tag has been lowered to 10.5 million according to various reports from the Italian media. The agent of Abdoulaye Konko has also admitted that a deal is in place for the French right-back to go to Lazio but there was also clarification that the player has yet to speak with the Romans.

In other news today, Cagliari wantaway goalkeeper Federico Marchetti confirmed that he is interested in a move to Lazio. A deal for Lichtsteiner would give Claudio Lotito enough money to initiate Marchetti's buyout clause.

Riccardo Montolivo of Fiorentina and Brescia duo Hetemaj and Kone have also been linked with moves to Rome. Meanwhile Toronto FC are looking at Makinwa while Newell's Old Boys have declared an interest in Lionel Scaloni.

TOMASSO BERNI: I WILL STAY IF LAZIO WANT ME TO STAY

The previous season second goalkeeper of Lazio Tomasso Berni has not settled his future yet. Reports in the late stages of the season were all indicating a move to Napoli, but it appears now that it has fallen apart, and with Muslera that will be leaving Lazio, Berni's agent Davide Lippi has spoken to Cittaceleste.it and hinted at Berni's willingness to stay at Lazio.

"Now it is a difficult period as Tomasso is trying to decide his future. Contrary to what many think, the player does not want to leave Rome. Berni is happy here and loves the city, but we are still waiting for Tare and Lotito to make a move. As for Napoli, we are not thinking about them now, after the Muslera incident, we think Berni is the right man for the job. Berni has always been available when the team needed him, and regardless if the coach thinks Berni is worthy of only the second keeper position, we are willing to stay if a suitable offer from Lazio came." concluded Lippi.

SERIE A LICENSE OF LAZIO WILL BE DISPUTED?

Lazio registered the stadium of Fiorentina Artemio Franchi as their home when playing in Europa championship, and that will make a dispute about their license to play in Serie A because it’s not suitable with FIGC rules.
Lazio registered Artemio Franchi because they still involved in $2,9 million debt to Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) for using the Olimpico stadium in Rome. But to get the UEFA license, a club can not have too many debts, and with using Artemio Franchi, Lazio hope that their debts to CONI will be deleted by UEFA. But, FIGC rule says that an Italian club only permitted to use stadium in other city in unusual condition.
Lazio’s president Claudio Lotito now has to find the solution about the debts to CONI in order to get the license to participate in Serie A next season.
