This is another news about mercato of Lazio. With Djibril Cisse leaving to QPR, Sculli as a back up forward returning to Genoa with the possibilities of his deal being permanent high, Lazio appear without many options in the front.
Alfaro and Kozak are the only two young forwards considering that Klose and Rocchi are moving towards the other half of 30's. With Lazio hoping to qualify another time for Europe and with the team wanting to keep up the fight at the top next season, the team is rumored to be on the look out for potential strikers come June.
Gazzetta Dello Sport mentioned that Lazio are interested in Ricky Van Wolfswinkel from Sporting Lisbon. Wolfswinkel who faced Lazio in UEFA Cup this season is 22 years old and is tied to the Portoguese club until 2015. Lazio have been rumored to be interested during the past summer mercato too. An offer of 12.5 million euros is tabled by the Roman club while Sporting's asking price is 22 million.
Another name being mentioned is Mladen Petric. Also a striker. The 31 year old Croatian who is currently at Hamburg will be available on a Bosman (free transfer) in June because Hamburg decide not to continue his contract.
Mauro Zarate on the other hand is as ever linked to Zenit St. Petersburg. The Argentinean who is currently on loan at Inter has refused the Russian club earlier this year, but with his situation at Inter not being impressive, and a cold relationship with Edy Reja could see him savor the move to Russia with the club offering 15 million euros for him, something Lotito would be smiling at given the recent performances of the once talented Argentinean. Igli Tare commented about this rumour, "Until June he is a Inter player, and should only be treated like that."
