Claudio López born July 17, 1974 in Rio Tercero was a mighty Argentine football player. He is known by the nickname "El Piojo", meaning "the louse", and is well known for his pace, dribbling skills and world class finishing with his powerfull left foot.
Claudio has arrived in Roma in 2000/2001 season with his teammate in Argentina national team, Hernan Crespo. He was transferred from the Spanish club, Valencia after took the club into the final of Champions League 1999/2000, but failed to became the Champion after his club had taken down by another Spanish club, Real Madrid. For your information, Valencia met Lazio in quarter final that season. Claudio had scored one goal to delivered a victory in Mestalla Stadium against Lazio with 5-2 score. In Olimpico meeting, Lazio only won 1-0, that Valencia went through to the semifinal with 5-3 aggregate.
After fantastic season in Valencia, Claudio had a new season with his new club, Lazio. His first official appearance was in Super Coppa Italiana at Olimpico Stadium against Internazionale. He scored two goals in that game to delivered victory to Lazio with 4-3 scored. It’s his first trophy in his first season.
But, unfortunately he suffered from injury in early season of Serie A and couldn’t participate with the squad for several months. And finally, He ended the season with only played several times and scored no goal. But, He succeed to assist his teammate, Hernan Crespo became the Capocanonieri of Serie A in that season with his service in forward line.
Claudio spent four years in Roma. Played for 105 matches in Serie A and scored 28 goals. He presented two trophies for Lazio. First, Super Coppa Italiana in early season of 2000/2001. The second was in the end of season 2003/2004. The team was coached by the former player of Lazio, Roberto Mancini.
